Christmas and more at the Devilled Egg Kitchen Academy
Ok, so it may only be early November, but we are so excited about everything that is happening over the next few weeks that we simply had to share it with you now! Oh and the kitchen is closing early this year on 10th December while head chef Barbora gets married – even more excitement! But don’t worry, I (new assistant chef Becci) will be on hand to post and email you your unique Christmas vouchers right up until Christmas Eve (more details below).
First of all, the Golden Egg cook off begins this week, as we see 11 budding Bristol University students battle it out in the first round. There are four rounds in total and all are being held to raise money for the Bristol Urological Society, with the grand finale taking place on 27th November. One lucky winner will be crowned and prizes include Raymond Blanc cookery set, Cake decorating equipment and Pampered Chef goodies and more! You can get involved by voting for your favourite dish from 9th November – keep an eye on this page for more details and you can win a Villeroy & Boch cookery set, £100 travel vouchers, Pampered Chef goodies and more!. Judges include the fantastic Xanthe Clay, Genevieve Taylor and Angela Mount!
Next up on 23rd November we welcome the wonderful Fiona Beckett (acclaimed food writer and Guardian wine columnist) to the kitchen for an evening of cheese and wine matching heaven. Buy your tickets here quick before they sell out – all proceeds go to the Bristol Urological Institute.
Then, on the 9th December we are on the move as we take residency as proud sponsors of Bristol’s Christmas Love Food Festival in the fantastic Spiegeltent! Come down for demos and tips and to buy your friends and family a unique Christmas present – the Devilled Egg Kitchen Academy vouchers!
We are also running some demos on how to make home made Christmas presents. Watch us create fabulous edible gifts whilst drinking a few glasses of delicious mulled wine. You will then be able to take the recipes home to recreate the goodies.
If it is a cocktail making you are interested in, we are also holding an evening with Orchard Pig, where you will be able to sample yummy drinks matched with some autumnal dishes cooked to perfection in front of you. This will be a great inspiration for your New Year’s Eve Party!
This year the Devilled Egg Kitchen Academy has its very own online shop! You can pop in to buy everything from top of the range Rococo chocolates to our very own family cookbook and calendar (more on that below).
More on that calendar! If you haven’t noticed already, this November we are doing everything we can to support the Bristol Urological Institute with events like the Golden Egg cook off and Fiona’s wine tasting. What’s more, we have put together our very own calendar, featuring recipes from the likes of Valentine Warner, Rick Stein and Fiona Beckett. We are really proud of it and it can be yours for just £14.99 and again, every penny goes to the BUI.
