This delicious treat has been getting a bit of a bad rep these past few years (as far as I can remember, really) with some mediocre brands on the market giving us the wrong impression. Why not try making your own this year? It makes for a great present, but it will also go down a treat on a cold Winter’s night.
1 liter of full fat milk
50g soft light brown sugar
1 vanilla pod, split and seeds scraped out
Pop the milk, eggs, sugar, vanilla pod and seeds into a pan and bring slowly to a simmer and cook until the mixture coats the back of a spoon, take off the heat and add the brandy
You can serve immediately or pour into bottles and chill.
Drink as soon as possible, but will keep in the fridge for up to a week.
