These little biscuits are great fun to make with the kids as well as with the adults. I made a huge batch last year and gave them to all the family and friends, tied to their presents- 2 for the price of 1!

250g butter, at room temperature
140g golden caster sugar
2 tsp vanilla extract
1tsp ground cinnamon
1 egg yolk
300g plain flour
1 pinch of salt
Boiled Sweets

Combine the butter and sugar in a bowl and whisk until light and fluffy
Add the egg yolk and vanilla and mix
Add the flour, salt and cinnamon and bring together to form a dough
Roll out to a 1 pound coin thickness and cut with your chosen cookie cutter, pop on a baking tray lined with baking parchment
Cut a whole for a ribbon, so you can hang the cookies as a decoration later
Bash the sweets with a hammer in a plastic bag, separating the colours
Pop the crushed sweets into the cookie and bake on 160C until the biscuits are set and starting to colour (10-15 minutes)
Leave to cool completely
If you fell like making the biscuits extra special, use some Ready Royal Icing to decorate them
