We were delighted to welcome Simon, Carrie, Chris, Leah and Suzie from Unearthed into the Academy for their Supper Club a couple of weeks ago.

For anybody who doesn’t know about them, Unearthed are a fantastic company sourcing some of the tastiest and most unusual foods from around the world and bringing them back to the UK for us to try.

Truly passionate about what they do, Unearthed have decided to take to the road to showcase their delicious food (some of which you can buy in Waitrose). Their last Supper Club was held in London with Masterchef winner Tim Anderson cooking up a storm.

Bristol was their second stop, taking over the Academy and filling it with aromas from around the world – our stomachs were rumbling all day! The Arancinimenu for the Supper Club featured foods from all over the world, and naturally showcased some of their innovative produce.

A gaggle of Bristol bloggers and press gathered in our kitchen to be greeted with a festive rum and cider cocktail and some tasty nibbles to whet the appetite. Unearthed olives are some of the best you can buy and we regularly use them for events.

To start we were treated to a prawn arancini, served with a red harissa and macadamia nut dip (which we had been watching Chris make with fascination), and Unearthed garlic prawns – delicious! The arancini was packed with flavour, and the dip was rich and tasty.

PorkwellingtonNext up was the course I had most been looking forward to – a Spanish Iberico pork wellington! The pork had been wrapped in Unearthed’s spreadable chorizo, before being baked to perfection. It was spicy, but melt in the mouth and served with spiced cabbage, pak choi and spiced broccoli.

By this point our tummies were quite full. But in the other end of the kitchen we could see Chris and Leah brandishing a blowtorch to put the final touches to pudding – a baked Alaska – adventurous for so many people I have to say! But they pulled it off – the chai tea ice cream took our dining companions straight back to India, and the glistening pomegranate seeds were the perfect final touch.

There was a generous glass of wine served with each course, which matched excellently too.bakedalaska

We would just like to take this opportunity to thank Simon, Carrie, Suzie, Leah and Chris for hosting a fantastic evening – we look forward to welcoming you back soon!
