Cheddar and herby stars Easy

Prep: 10 minutes 

Cooking: 20 minutes 

Serves: 4-6

Serving Suggestion: serve as a snack or canapé 


  • 120g plain flour
  • 50g Rapeseed Oil
  • 1 tablespoon Garlic Oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of Italian mixed herbs
  • 2 tablespoons of cold water
  • 100g grated cheddar


Preheat the oven to 200C

Tip the flour, herbs and salt into a large bowl

Pour in the oil and start whisking together

Add half the water and keep mixing with your hands and only add more water if

the mixture is dry and not coming together

Roll the pastry out between two sheets of baking parchment until about 2 pound coin thickness

Sprinkle liberally with cheese and cut out as many stars as you can 

Line a baking tray with one the baking parchment and place the stars gently on it 

Bake for 15-20 minutes until the pastry is fully cooked (not bendy and with no grey bits at the bottom) and the cheese is golden brown 

Leave to cool slightly before serving (can be made up to a couple of days ahead and kept in an airtight container)
