Tostones are crispy twice fried plantian snacks. The name is derived from the Spanish verb tostar which means “to toast”).


  • 1 plantain
  • Oil for frying and salt


Slice the plantain into 1 inch thick slices
Fry in hot oil – 4 minutes a side
Lift them out and carefully flatten
Fry 1-2 minutes a side until golden
Dry on kitchen paper
Season with salt and serve
