Grilled Lobster

Lobster is a a real treat and we would always recommend preparing it simply, but well cooked. You can either purchase an already killed one and just heat through in a low oven with the butter or you can buy a live one and cut him in half yourself, starting at the top of the head, to put the lobster out of his misery.

Serves 2

Ingredients

  • 1-2 lobsters (depending on how much you want to eat)
  • 50g butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 3 garlic cloves (super finely grated - use a zester)
  • 2 large waxy potatoes

Method

Cut the potatoes into chips and blanch in salted boiling water for 2-3 minutes
Lay on a plate lined with paper towel
You can either bake them on 190C for 15 minutes until cooked through and then fry for service until golden brown OR you can fry them at low heat (150C) first and then on high heat for service
For the butter, thoroughly combine the butter, salt and garlic, roll into a sausage and chill
For the lobster:
Grill the halves on a high heat for about 10 minutes (depending on the size) until cooked and beautifully orange
Top both halves of the lobster with the garlic butter and serve with the chips and tartare sauce
