Mapo Doufu style stir fry

Stir fries are a great mid week staple. This one is full of flavour and really filling.

Serves 2:



  • 200g smoked tofu
  • 1 rib eye steak
  • 1 head of broccoli, florets removed
  • 1 red chilli, finely sliced
  • 1cm fresh ginger, finely sliced
  • 1 clove of garlic, finely sliced
  • 1 tablespoon of soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon of fish sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of black sesame seeds
  • Cooked soba noodles
  • For the pickle:
  • 1 baby turnip, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon of white wine vinegar


Make the pickle by combining the ingredients
Get a wok really hot with a dash of oil
Fry the steak for 1-2 minutes on each side (depending on the thickness), take out and leave to rest, then slice into strips
Add more into the pan and add the chilli, garlic and ginger and fry for 1 minute
Add broccoli and 2 tablespoons of water
After the water has evaporated, add the tofu and fry for a few minutes
Add the sauces and stir the beef through and serve in top of the noodles with the pickles and sesame seeds immediately
