Maple and chilli plantain – the perfect snack or a side dish with a spicy steak!


  • 2 plantains, sliced into 1/2 cm thick slices
  • 1 tablespoon of coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon of maple syrup
  • 1/4 teaspoon of chilli powder (or to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • Juice from 1/2 lime


Heat the coconut oil in a pan set over high heat
Combine the plantain with the maple syrup and chilli powder
Place plantain slices in a single layer in the pan (don’t overcrowd it) and cook for 5-6 minutes on each side until golden and cooked through and tender
Drain on a kitchen towel
Sprinkle the cooked plantain with salt and drizzle with the lime juice
